July Blog: Last Minute Planning Still Counts!

Last Minute Planning Still Counts! A Wedding Story

I don’t know about you, but if 2020 was the slowest, longest year ever, the summer of 2021 has been the fastest, shortest summer ever! Even though there has been vacation time, so much has required extra support and planning for my brain’s executive functioning challenges.

Last week, I joyously created a wedding celebration in honor of my daughter’s marriage to a wonderful man! COVID messed up their original wedding plans, so they just decided to go for it and got married at the beautiful county courthouse in Santa Barbara, California. Yay for them!

With little lead time before they arrived here in Portland as newlyweds, I got out my planner, sticky notes, flags, whiteboard, and cookbooks to create a wonderful event for family and a few old friends. I was in my element creating small dishes with a Mediterranean theme. I even managed to pull off a Raspberry Lemon wedding cake that was amazingly delicious.

Weekly Commitments Page from the Seeing My Time Planner

Here’s what my Weekly Commitments Page looked like. I used moveable flags to allow last minute changes in the plan!

Family and friends pitched in to help with the finishing touches, contributing balloons, flowers and food. We had it all together with 20 minutes to spare before the newlyweds pulled into the driveway. (Whew!) It was a feast full of great food and lots of laughter, giving us all memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Planning for Fun in Portland

The Monday morning after the party, I was working on my weekly planning when I looked over at the dining room table to see the bride and groom using their personal Seeing My Time Adult Planner Systems to plan the rest of their time here in Portland. I am not making that up! And you know what? They were even planning which evening they would make dinner for me! I’m such a lucky woman. My new son-in-law makes a killer pasta sauce.

Don’t despair that the summer is gone! There is still the month of August for you to plan events to create lasting memories AND to get ready for September, be it returning to work or school.

To help with your planning check out our planners. Our Seeing My Time Academic Year Planner Systems are flying off the shelves, as are our Set Up Success Student Planner and College planners. All of our planners come with videos to help you get the most out of your purchase.

It’s never too late to get the tools you need to set up your own success and start planning today.

Enjoy the sunshine and each other. Happy memory making!
