Seeing My Time in Action: 30 Day New Year’s Challenge

Can you name some nagging thing that you want or need to get done but you just can’t start it?

The real question is who can’t name such a task?

Seeing My Time in ActionMany people with executive function challenges struggle with time management, task initiation, planning and follow through. These are skills that are especially challenging when it comes to tackling a multi-step goal. When a task requires multiple days to fulfill, questions to answer and time carved out in our busy schedules, it can stretch on into what feels like eternity.

For years we have wanted a way to continue to support people to reach goals after they finished the Seeing My Time Course. Now we realize that everyone can use a little accountability support – whether you have taken Seeing My Time or not.

Our beautiful new online classroom platform is finally making that goal possible. It is easy to use and accessible on your phone via an app (iOS only). Log in to the classroom every day and receive tips, strategies and inspiration to help you break down your goal over the course of 30 days, and create action needed to GET IT DONE.

What does this 30-Day Challenge Give You?

1. It Builds Accountability

When you post your personal goal for others to see, you are much more likely to follow the goal through to completion. A research study on accountability from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) showed that just stating a goal is not enough to make it happen. Their study found the various probabilities of completing a goal based on what you do. Here’s what they found:

  • You name the idea or goal: 10% probability
  • You consciously decide to do it: 25%
  • You name the time you plan to do it: 40%
  • You create a plan of how to make it happen: 50%
  • You commit your goal to another person: 65%
  • You schedule and accountability meeting with the person you’ve committed to: 95%

Think how much you could accomplish by bringing that probability up to 65%!

In this challenge, you can choose a buddy to do the challenge with, or do it on your own and rely on the group dynamic to hold you accountable. This is a closed, private group of participants, so there will be no posting awkward selfies or pictures of your paper piles on social media! Just you, your buddy and the others in the group. Our goal is to build a safe space for people in the challenge to share their goals, fears and successes.

2. It Helps You Break Tasks Down into Actionable Steps

Seeing My Time in Action gives you the structure you need to break the task down into doable chunks. This is often the biggest roadblock when it comes to accomplishing a medium or large-sized goal.

Our online classroom (available as an app or on a desktop) has 30 days of posts, with places to post and document your progress. This feature, combined with the accountability of working with another person, is a great recipe for getting that nagging task off of your plate.

Please join us for our next  challenge, starting January 1st, 2019!
