So grateful for these life-long skills
Marydee Sklar's Seeing My Time program has been one of the best gifts I've ever given our family. We initially attended Marydee's program with the intention of providing our son with skills to navigate middle school academics and the increase in his homework load. We came away from the program with so much more. Learning Marydee's time management skills has reduced the stress in our household dramatically. We are forever grateful for the life-long skills that we've learned which help us thrive as individuals and as a family unit. Thank you Marydee!
FAQ
Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:
Though we encourage you to schedule your sessions weekly, you may choose to space them farther apart. That is not a problem, though we ask you to complete all of your sessions within a five month time period.
Yes. Dr. Russell Barkley, a premier researcher in the field of ADHD, has argued that ADHD can largely be defined as deficits in executive functioning. These deficits transfer directly into poor time-management.
The activities in the Seeing My Time® course help participants with ADHD understand their brains' executive function challenges, and how they can support their brain to get things done. The workbook was designed for the creative, visually-oriented ADHD mind.
There is no magic wand or pill to “cure” deficits in executive functioning. However, through Seeing My Time® , individuals are able to understand why they have to use external tools and then how to use effective strategies to support reaching goals and getting things done.
We have found that support at home is critical in developing and mastering executive function skills in students under 18 years old. When the family participates in the courses as a unit, they are better equipped to reinforce the skills learned during these sessions. This requirement also applies to college students or other adults living in the same household with their parent(s).
Each participant is required to have their own workbook, and will be guided on their own journey towards developing their executive function skills - parents and students alike. This allows all participants to benefit from the course, and to support one another as they move forward with their new habits.
Yes! Seeing My Time® is great for students with learning disabilities or head injuries. Marydee started out as a teacher and reading specialist. She designed the Seeing My Time® workbook with struggling students in mind. There are very few words on most pages which makes it "friendly" for those with reading difficulties. Participants are asked to draw their responses so they don't have to spell or worry about handwriting. Verbal instruction is backed up with visuals drawn on a whiteboard, supporting visual learners and those with working memory challenges. Many of the activities are hands-on, using flags and sticky notes to concretely "see" time, which appeals to the kinesthetic learner. Teachers, educational therapists, and tutors around the country are using Seeing My Time® materials to help LD students, middle school through college.
No. We are an educational organization, not recognized by health insurers.
Seeing My Time has Transformed my Life!
I wanted to share how much SMT has transformed my life. Gee... that sounds so dramatic, yet it is so true. Getting things done, on time, and to the best of my ability has bolstered my self-confidence to the point where I feel so free. Free of the panic and dread that dominated me because I would take on so much and never get it done. Also, the ability to organize my time helps my dyslexic brain function so much better. Really, it has taken over three years - but it has happened; I am at the level of productivity and with a high quality of life that I had dreamed of achieving. Thank you so much for your work. Now, I hope to share it with others so that they can have the same joyful experience!
